Is religion playing too big role in American politics?

Do you feel that Christianity is playing too big of a role in American Politics and influencing too many things? Would it be better if religion and politics were just separated?

YES, Religion is suppose to be separated from the State It’s in the CONSTITUTION that is the way the Founders wanted it. Republicans trying to satisfy the Christian Right try to push this even the Abortion Rights, We have the Right to chose.

Yes, I believe it would be best if religion disappeared altogether.

People worship a mythical book written 1000 years ago. They believe the earth is only 6000 years old. They think earth is a flat square. They believe in creationism. If that’s not backwards, I don’t know what is.

Christianity is one religion among many. A person’s particular religious beliefs form character and morality and whether we agree with the different religions or, subscribe to agnosticism or atheism, it still is a part of who we are and why we vote as we do. Religion and the distaste thereof is cyclical and sometimes a false hysteria is promoted to drown out one point of view. We cannot stop people believing and voting those beliefs. Two of the most popular US presidents were JFK – a Roman Catholic and Bill Clinton, a Southern Baptist. Their religion did not diminish their popularity or their intellect.

Not really … we are a secular country where religion and politics ARE separate … there are religious fanatics here who make a lot of big noises but apart from nuisance value they don’t really make much impact on our laws etc … !

Trust me: You’d like America better if we focused on getting rid of all the godless Marxism instead.
