Racist, bigot and homophobe: Newsletters were known to be from another author and the name was purposely redacted by the person who released them around election time. He also delivered babies for free for people including minorities because he wouldn't accept government funds.

Economic ideals: Predicted the housing bubble and crash and warned against our policies that would exacerbate the problem. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHNp1wf1T_k

Views on Isreal: He backs their sovereignty and their right to defend themselves but doesn't play favorites cause he focuses on America first and foremost. By not giving foreign aid we would save that money domestically while simultaneously cutting roughly 10bn in aid to enemies of Israel. We need to fix our own problems not be the nosy neighbor of the world.
References :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHNp1wf1T_k

I love people like you.

-I'm not changing the subject, what do you want to know? The newsletters? Have you even read the "questionable" quotes or are you just lipping off for MSNBC?

Now remember, these newsletters were written by someone else who used Pauls signature in the age old custom of ghost writing.

That said, let's look at the "questionable quote";

"Order was only restored in L.A.," the publication opined, "when it came time for the blacks to pick up their welfare checks."

What about that statement isn't true?

1992 Los Angeles riots
Location Los Angeles, California
Date April 29, 1992 - May 4, 1992
Attack type rioting, protests

Hmm? may 4th? if they issued the checks on the 30th then.......I'd imagine it would take @ 2-3 days for them to show up in the mailbox considering the riot problem.....hmm? maybe the writer was RIGHT?
References :
The issue of the racist Ron Paul newsletters begs a larger question: is Ron Paul racist? I seriously doubt it, and here's why:

1. I have read those awful newsletters myself. I've also read 3 of Ron Paul's books and a multitude of his speeches. Unlike the newsletters, Ron Paul doesn't employ hyperbolic simile ("It's the hip-hop thing to do among urban youth who play unsuspecting whites like pianos"), wordplay like "Morondon," or use prefixes like "semi-criminal" or "half-educated" in his speeches or writings.

2. It’s unusual for a newsletter to be written by the figurehead. Most political newsletters and direct-mail operations employ ghostwriters. Ron Paul had something like 14 different newsletters going out under his name, at the same time he was running a business as a practicing obgyn.

3. When asked in 2007 who he might pick as a running mate, he named one guy--Walter Williams, a black man--as a strong possibility. Walter also refers to Paul as a friend and said Paul is one of 3 people the founders would even talk to. Video: 4 minute mark http://youtu.be/bt62zjHoVa4

4. This is a picture of a young Ron Paul.

Check out the body language!

http://oi46.tinypic.com/2ai4jzr.jpg

5. Nelson Lender, the director of the NAACP in Austin, Texas said last campaign that he’s known Ron Paul personally for 20 years and is sure he’s not a racist. Nelson Lender interviewed by Scott Horton: http://youtu.be/OGhv3paNz6U

6. Ron Paul didn't say the Civil War was pointless; he said is was "senseless" because there were better ways (than fighting and killing) of getting rid of slavery. "Six hundred thousand Americans died in a senseless civil war. Slavery was phased out in every other country of the world. And the way I'm advising that it should have been done is do like the British empire did. You, you buy the slaves and release them. How much would that cost compared to killing 600,000 Americans and where it lingered for 100 years? I mean, the hatred and all that existed. So every other major country in the world got rid of slavery without a civil war." Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbOE4Ip7In0 transcript of full interview: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22342301/ns/meet_the_press/t/meet-press-transcript-dec/#.TwYdVHrNQUg

7. Despite being known for his consistency, one of the few issues he’s changed his mind on is the death penalty… because of it’s disproportionate use on minorities and those living in the inner city. Video: http://dotsub.com/view/d0ae0c17-b114-4be6-bdc6-4cf076d3b521

8. When challenging the war on drugs, Paul often points out the injustice of blacks and minorities being imprisoned at a higher rate than whites for the same crime. Video: See video above.

9. When challenging foreign wars, Paul often points out that war disproportionately affects minority families.

10. Paul cites Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr and Gandhi as his heroes. Even so, Paul voted against Congress awarding a $30,000 Congressional Metal of Honor to Rosa Parks because he didn't think the taxpayers should foot the bill for something unauthorized by the Constitution. INSTEAD he turned around and offered $1000 out of his own pocket to help pay for it, and encouraged his fellow Congressmen to do the same (none did). He likewise voted against the same metal for Ronald Reagan, for the same reason.

11. Ron Paul had this to say about racism: “Racism is simply an ugly form of collectivism, the mindset that views humans strictly as members of groups rather than individuals... By encouraging Americans to adopt a group mentality, the advocates of so-called “diversity” actually perpetuate racism. Their obsession with racial group identity is inherently racist... we should understand that racism will endure until we stop thinking in terms of groups and begin thinking in terms of individual liberty.”

12. When asked if Paul repudiates the ugly comments from the newsletter, Paul not only repudiated them but said his entire life repudiates those comments, because his words and actions are 180 degrees apart from racism. Video: http://youtu.be/RKBlk1Vpeuw

--------

I would just like to point out that Ron Paul is being skewered based on anonymous paragraphs written decades ago while his opponents (including Obama) CURRENTLY endorse/pass/sign thousand-page bills that actually -negate- our civil liberties. Agree or disagree with Ron Paul's IDEAS if you will, but please recognize bias-inspired spin and speculation for what it is when there are friendships, photos, videos, words, and actions pointing to the contrary.
References :
http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=10150446245387032

I never change the subject. You people just don't like my answer.

Ron Paul has always believed in free speech-even for people with somewhat radical opinions so long as they are legal. Ron Paul himself did not write those. You have to resort to blaming him for what others wrote because you can't find enough dirt on him himself. In essence, you are angry that he does not censor people. Ron leaves it to people to censor themselves.
The controversial writings did not overwhelm the newsletters. Ron never said he agreed. They were a person's opinion using only a small part of the publications. If you want censorship, leave America. Good riddance.
